In my Eckbo post I mentioned Kris Lucius's endeavor to create a Google map of all the known notable sites of landscapes and architecture in the greater Boston region, so if you find yourself in the area with some free time, here you go.
I am SLOWLY developing one for the greater Los Angeles metropolis area. If you know the whereabouts of a fitting site by all means send it my way.
There are future plans to construct one cohesive catalogue of these sites through Google's interactive mapping nationally, and possibly one day globally, in hopes of sprouting greater awareness of the design world around us. We see images in books, blogs, and websites, but as a spatial medium, our appreciation might only be better realized if we physically experience the project.
The condensed digital make-up of the map is really quite amazing. Once completed, you could locate yourself with your gps enabled phone, load the map link, and all the architectural nodes will appear before you with provided directions. If your not able to physically visit these sites, as Google Streetview progresses, it will only enable stronger windows into the provided spatial pinpoints.
Please send any Los Angeles/Southern California architecture and landscape landmarks (including address if known) to adam{at}designundersky{dot}com.
